Vestre Fjord Park by Adept offers a new balance in a unique fjord landscape, enhancing the relations between users and nature by providing an active environment for new experiences

The project is a recreational learning and experience landscape that generously contributes to the full experience of its unique site by the Danish fjord, the Limfjord. It is the nuanced balance between the natural landscape, the activities and functions and the park’s many daily users that really adds life and local character to Vestre Fjord Park.

The Limfjord itself, the largest fjord landscape in Denmark, is the grand potential of Vestre Fjord Park. Here one finds "real" nature - water, bird life, fish, fields, beach and meadows - that together with a wide variety of physical activities and outdoor facilities create the setting for new active experiences related to both nature and the city.

The vision behind the project is to encourage direct contact to the fjord by establishing better accessibility from land to sea. At the same time, the project aim to strengthen the story of the landscape with a multi-functional building structure that frames the many potential activities on the water. The precise cut between the two water spaces is defined by the isthmus binding together landscape and built structure - exactly where the experiences of fjord, activities and park become one.

Adept is based in Copenhagen and the studio is creatively lead by founding partners Anders Lonka, Martin Krogh and Martin Laursen. They design architecture, public space and large-scale urban plans with a cross-disciplinary team of architects, landscape architects, engineers and urban planners. Engaging in a wide range of architectural disciplines have become their professional strength.
