UNFOLD is back with a twist to end this year. On December 12th at ATÖLYE Istanbul, In collaboration with ATÖLYE Architecture & XXI, our latest session doesn’t just stop at a panel, it starts with an exciting workshop, where participants will play the newly published game, City Making 101, before diving into a thought-provoking discussion. Together, we’ll tackle the question: How can a game help us reimagine our cities?

City Making 101 is more than just a game; it’s a foundational tool for everyone to engage in the design of their cities. It combines a lively role-playing experience with practical insights, helping participants co-imagine, debate, and reach consensus on design guidelines for public space projects. This session will also draw on real-life urban challenges from the Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA) and showcase ATÖLYE’s participatory design approach, bridging practice and play in city-making.

Join Alexis Şanal, the creator of City Making 101, İdil Bayar, and Elif Durgun from IPA, together with Güray Oskay, Director of ATÖLYE Architecture, as they explore how gamification can open new pathways for participatory city-making, offering a fresh perspective on designing urban solutions.
