Applications open for SESAM 2018

Small European Students of Architecture Meeting (SESAM) 2018 will be held between May 1-10 in Čareja and Bielaja Carkva, Belarus with a program consisting of workshops, lectures and other cultural events. The international architecture meeting is open for students and architects from all over the world.

Čareja and Bielaja Carkva (White Church), the chosen villages for the event, are the regular examples of "village disappearance": the population is critically small; school, libraries and cultural centers are closing. With help of the local community SESAM's participants will explore the local context, find ways to develop the local infrastructure and make this place comfortable firstly for the locals.

The event consists of 3 parts:

  • lectures by historians, anthropologists, sociologists and architects
  • workshops
  • final exhibition and festival involving the local community

The deadline for applications is March 15. The participants are expected to send a poster (or brief concept) on the topic "Rural utopia / rural distopia". The files should be jpeg/png image format. And a description (combined with motivation letter) up to 500 signs.

You can reach the application form here and find further information here.
