Pumas Clubhouse

The clubhouse project, which arose from the urgent need for a venue for Mexico's Pumas First Division team, was designed by DF Arquitectos. The office describes the project as follows:

The importance of having a Clubhouse of this magnitude in a first division team over time has been magnified and has practically become essential, due to the population growth of new young footballers at a national and international level and who require a certain infrastructure to be able to stay in a sports club.

The Clubhouse, as its name indicates, allows to house, train, and attract new soccer promises. The Clubhouse for a first division team of Mexican soccer as important as Pumas is necessary, since currently, Pumas is one of the most sought after teams by young people to enroll in the lower division teams, in addition to being one of the main protagonists of the Mexican soccer tournaments in all its categories. The proposed Pumas Clubhouse will have about 110 beds, social areas, study and knowledge areas, recreational areas, among other spaces, and will be located in the sports facilities of the same team, located in the Cantera.

The architectural proposal is centered on two volumes of 4 levels each, locating on the ground floor a covered parking area, some cleaning services and machine rooms, and social spaces such as study rooms, library, dining room and terraces, as well as a meeting space for the families of the young people who stay at the Clubhouse. The next two levels of both buildings, contemplate 44 rooms with their own bathrooms to accommodate about 110 users. The last level in both buildings, are recreational spaces for young people, entertainment areas and terraces that enjoy an extraordinary view of the entire sports complex of the Pumas teams in all their categories located in the Cantera.

The use of volcanic stone as a fundamental element of the façade makes both buildings fit perfectly into the immediate context, leaving the residential levels more open, where a latticework guided by precast elements that simulate the movement of the imperfect natural walls of the University Quarry itself complements the façades.

With a total of 3,700 m2 of construction, the Clubhouse is divided into public, private and semi-private spaces, depending on the level.
