AURA Summer School: “Istanbul Past, Present and Future”

Architecture and Urbanism Research Academy (AURA) Istanbul invites undergraduate and graduate students to participate in its summer program “Istanbul Past, Present and Future” which is set to be held in Istanbul from July 16 to August 10. The deadline for applications is June 10, 2018.

The terminal where east and west blends, the great city of Istanbul has been coveted through the ages, the capital for two highly different empires - the Byzantine and Ottoman. 8,000 years of human occupation has left a massive accumulation of architectural legacy behind for later researchers to look into and analyze. With a wide range of lecturers who are leading experts in their field, the program will cover a comprehensive analysis featuring the coping mechanisms developed through millennia to different sets of problems by the builders and dwellers of the city.

This summer research program is specially designed for undergraduate and graduate students of Architecture, Urban Planning and other related fields. The four-week intensive lecture, on-site visit and studio work will provide participants with a window of opportunity to learn directly from distinguished researchers and cultivate their expertise.

During the program participants will have an opportunity to share innovative ideas and diverse perspectives while initiating new friendships and connections.
